Can I store things under my deck?
Would have to goUnder the August 2026 state draft. Not law yet, though some cities have their own rules.
No. The space under decks, balconies, pergolas and stairs must be free of plants and anything that burns.
- That includes stored lumber, cushions, boxes and dry weeds.
What to do instead
Clear it out and keep it clear.
Timing: Existing homes: within 3 years of the rule taking effect.
